AMIDEAST offers a series of test preparation courses designed specifically for students and professionals who are planning to take standardized tests.
iBT TOEFL® & ITP TOEFL® Test Preparation
The iBT course prepares students to take the internet-based TOEFL® test, which is an entrance requirement for students who want to study abroad in the U.S. The ITP TOEFL® course prepares students to take the paper-based test, which is used for academic placement, progress evaluation, and exit testing by some local universities and colleges. It is always advisable to check with your university which test is required before registering for either course.
Both are 15-hour, intensive courses through which students develop their academic skills in English while building their confidence and developing exam techniques and test taking strategies. Through integrated skills practice, students will:
- Become familiar with exam structure and format;
- Develop critical thinking and communicative competence;
- Develop academic skills in English;
- Develop the four main skills tested: listening/speaking/reading/writing;
- Review material and do practice tests.

SAT® 1 Test Preparation
The SAT® Test Preparation Course consists of 36 hours of instruction and covers all three areas tested on the SAT 1 exam, Critical Reading, Writing and Math. The program is designed to provide students with practical tips, strategies and techniques on how to tackle the SAT test questions, as well as to provide practice exercises to improve and sharpen their skills. Through practice, students will:
- Develop reading skills and vocabulary ;
- Develop writing skills;
- Develop critical reasoning skills ;
- Practice math – arithmetic, geometry and algebra;
- Review material and do practice tests.
Admission to our SAT Test Preparation class is dependent upon adequate English language proficiency and familiarity with the following math topics:
- Algebra 1 (Basic)
- Algebra 2 (Intermediate)
- Geometry
- Data analysis, statistics, probability and problem solving
It is therefore recommended that all candidates for the SAT class are in Grade 11 or above.

GMAT®& GRE® Test Preparation
The 36-hour GMAT and GRE test preparation courses are designed to familiarize students with the format and modes of questioning on the GMAT and GRE tests. The courses review key verbal, math, and analytical concepts typically included on the tests, introduce students to useful test-taking strategies, and include work on practice questions with classroom analysis and discussion.
Both GMAT and GRE courses consist of two components, 18 hours English and 18 hours math.
Admission to either program is dependent upon the following AMIDEAST placement test scores:
- 85% on the English placement test, or TOEFL score of 500+;
- 75% on the math placement test.
In order to ensure participants meet the proficiency requirements for our test preparation courses, they must first take a placement test. No test is required for students joining our SAT course.
